
The Birth of Ballet Folklorico of El Paso
Since its birth in 1989, Ballet Folklorico of El Paso has made a memorable and lasting impact on all of those who ghave been fortunate to watch the Folklorico's members perform.
The Folklorico's emphasis on providing every audience with a true, yet enjoyable representation of "Nuestras Tradiciones", has earned the dancers a reputation of bestowing every show with a real taste of Mexican Folklore.
Through the tutelage of its founder/ director, Arturo Guerrero, Ballet Folklorico of El Paso strives to remain faithful to the established performance and tradition, technically and visually in every presentation.
The group considers itself to be totally loyal to each folklore region performed. Dance steps are meticulously practiced to share with audeinces the accepted norms in Mexico. In addition, the costumes are either brought from the regions being performed or are made here with strict observance to the design in order to keep their originality. Mr. Guerrero's choreography not only follows set pattern but also allows the group's members to fully dispaly Mexico's traditional folklore. Just as the Mexican people vehemently manifest their indigenous roots as a national treasure, Ballet Folklorico of El Paso performs dances from all regions with the same traditional vitality.
Ballet Folklorico of El Paso has been invited to appear in numerous local and national festivities. Of special mention, the folklorico group has apeared in the annual Mariachi Festival in Tucson, Arizona, as well as, Las Cruces, NM, and Van Horn, TX; The Hispanic Music Awards in El Paso, TX; Hobbs, NM Festival Days, Big Enchilada Fiesta in Las Cruces, NM; The Sun Carnival Parade in El Paso, TX; Also, Musicals such as "Revolucion!", "Viva Mexico", and Festival Folklorico 2001 and 2002 in Dallas, TX. The folklorico has also been special guests to the Ballet Folklorico of Dallas Annual Galla in 2003, Disneyland 2004 and 2006, and Disneyworld 2005 and 2007

Mission Statement
While Ballet Folklorico of El Paso’s main objective is preservation of the Mexican culture through the art of dance, we believe that tradition and authenticity should never be sacrificed for glitz or glitter. Based on this concept, our costumes and dance presentations are as close to tradition as possible. Ballet Folklorico of El Paso has been instrumental in promoting youth participation in a fun but disciplined atmosphere. The students are encouraged and motivated towards a positive direction to form good morals and character.
We Believe that we have been successful in accomplishing these goals.
